Dr Henning Hennicke Pretorius
MBChB (UP), FCS (SA), MMed (UP)
Dr Henning Hennicke Pretorius is a Specialist General Surgeon practising at Pretoria East Hospital in Moreleta Park and Wilgers Hospital.
He completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria, followed by internship training at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex in KwaZulu-Natal and community service at Pholosong Hospital.
With an enduring commitment to surgery, Dr Pretorius went on to obtain his FCS and MMed through the University of Pretoria.
His registrar training took place at several major institutions, including Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, 1 Military Hospital, and Tembisa Hospital.
This broad exposure across high-volume surgical centres shaped his ability to manage the full spectrum of general surgical conditions, including complex and emergency cases.
Surgery has been a calling since childhood. Dr Pretorius is drawn to the intellectual and technical challenges that surgery presents, as well as the direct impact it has on patients' lives, whether that means removing a simple lipoma or managing a critical trauma case. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive procedures and hernia surgery, and approaches every case by applying the best available evidence alongside sound clinical judgement.
Dr Pretorius believes that empathy, open communication, and genuine understanding are the foundation of good surgical care. Each patient brings different needs, concerns, and circumstances to a consultation, and he takes time to ensure that everyone he sees understands their condition and the options available to them. He prioritises supporting patients throughout the process, rather than focusing solely on the operation.
When he is not practising medicine, Dr Pretorius maintains an active lifestyle that includes golf, fishing, hiking, and cycling. Each year, he sets himself a structured physical goal, whether that is completing an Ironman triathlon, a cycling challenge, or another endurance event. He finds that this balance keeps him energised and present in his work.
Dr Pretorius is based at Netcare Pretoria East Hospital - Suite M33 for consultations and procedures. He also offers surgical care at Life Wilgers Hospital.

Practice Manager
As Practice Manager, Michelle oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, coordinating workflows, scheduling, theatre bookings, and administrative processes to ensure continuity of care.
Minette van Wyk
Receptionist
Minette is the practice receptionist and is often the first friendly voice patients hear when contacting the rooms. She assists with bookings, patient enquiries, and front‑desk communication.
Accounts Department
The practice works closely with an independent medical billing company, MFI, who manages all accounts, medical aid submissions, and billing processes. All account-related queries are handled directly by MFI to ensure efficient and accurate resolution.
