Meet Dr Henning Pretorius

MBChB (UP) • FCS (SA) • MMed (UP)

Dr Henning Hennicke Pretorius completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria, followed by internship training at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex and community service at Pholosong Hospital. He went on to obtain his FCS and MMed through the University of Pretoria, training at institutions including Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, 1 Military Hospital, and Tembisa Hospital.

From an early age, he felt a strong calling toward surgery. Dr Pretorius is drawn to the complexity of surgical care and the opportunity it provides to help people in meaningful, tangible ways. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and hernia repair. He is known for a calm, down-to-earth approach to both simple and complex cases. Beyond his work in medicine, he values an active lifestyle and enjoys golf, fishing, cycling and annual endurance challenges, which he believes keep him grounded and focused in his work.
